Vistaprint – A better deal than your local printer?

A new business needs new marketing materials

So you have a new business and you need to get some business cards and some marketing material out there to the masses. You can call your 3 local printer buddies and get a quote, but then you have to wonder about other fees and expenses. You already know you have a logo, you have a brand, you have an idea of what you want to create and the layout of your flyer… you head on over to Vistaprint because you saw something in a magazine that offered you 50 business cards for 10 bucks.

So now you are perusing the Vistaprint site and you see the ability to create your own tri-fold. Hey this is easy, you can add images, edit copy, and in a few minutes you have a professional product. But what about the cost? We created 1500 tri-folds for our business at a cost of about 25 cents, but wait, there’s more. Vistaprint will give you a deal after you checkout of a 10-minute only deal, where you need to decide within 10 minutes, so you can typically order 500 more for 7.5 cents each. So now that cost is down to under 20 cents per tri-fold, shipping is either standard 3, 5 or 8 day for a few bucks, and this also helps you get an idea of when the clock starts ticking.

Here’s a few examples of the recent things we had printed there for our local Jacksonville Dog spa:

All in all, I think Vistaprint is a winner. They don’t do everything for you, like we want circular magnets, but they can get you some good quality items for not a lot of money, and they do what they say they are going to do, which is rare these days in many vendors. I’d recommend Vistaprint to any new business, and for more than the discounted business cards.
